In 2007, she was featured in an episode of the reality television show Kitchen Confidential. She worked under head chef Laurent Tourondel. After her elimination from Hell’s Kitchen, West became a sous chef at the Empire Hotel in New York City. West was the sixth contestant to be eliminated, finishing in 11th place. During the show, she was nicknamed “Hurricane Heather” by head chef Gordon Ramsay.

In September 2006, it was announced that West would be one of the contestants on the second season of Hell’s Kitchen.
